Have you paused, believer, to consider the working of God as your eyes follow the words of scripture?  While we’re reading, the Spirit is working. If hunger to hear from God has dried up, we must question our idolatrous heart. We have a million things at our fingertips to feed our desire for God. But with our Bibles closed we’ll never grow. Like an undernourished infant we may survive, but we’ll never experience the abundant life God has intended for us. Don’t let the lust of the flesh tell you what you need. You’ve heard it all before, and for nothing. Get alone with the Father who loves you. Open the grace that builds and strengthens you from the inside out. Trust the word of God is at work in you.

Let’s pray. Lord, grant us a fresh desire for Your powerful word. Silence the lie that our spirit is just fine, when in truth, we’re wasting away inside. Thank you for the grace to confess our deceitful desires in Your holy presence, and return to the working of Your word with joy and thanksgiving. Amen.
